Tentative* Schedule for Amish & Mennonite Tour
for international students Nov 19th, 3pm - Nov 21st, evening
Friday
3pm - Depart from Bloomington for Shipshewana, Indiana
(A sack meal will be provided for everyone during the road trip)
8-8:30pm - Meet and go home with Mennonite host families
Saturday
8:00am – Sample Amish donuts and coffee at Rise n’ Roll Bakery in Middlebury
9 - 11am – Menno-Hof Museum tour (learn the history about the Amish & Mennonites)
11:00am - 12:30pm – Tour of Amish dairy farm
12:30 - 2:30pm – free time for grabbing a bite to eat and shop (or do other tourist activities like riding in an Amish buggy)
2:30 – Meet with an Amish minister
3:30 – Meet with an Amish bishop and tour an Amish business
5 -6:30pm – Amish Dinner
6:30pm – Movie about the life and teachings of Jesus at Menno-Hof Museum
9pm – Questions & answers with a Mennonite minister (who grew up Amish) about Mennonite and Amish beliefs
9:30pm – Go home with host families
Sunday
8:30ish - Breakfast with host families
9:30am - Mennonite Sunday School
10:30am - Mennonite worship service
12pm - Mennonite fellowship meal at church
1:30ish - Return to Bloomington (we should arrive home by early evening)
*We are coordinating with a Mennonite church in Southern Michigan that will be hosting us for no cost for this visit. This is a tentative schedule and there may be some minor modifications prior to the trip. The major expense for this trip is the transportation (we are renting 15-passenger vans). There are also fees for the museum, farm tour, the Amish dinner, and sack lunches on the way there. The total cost is $150 (scholarships are available - text Jessica for more info at 208-290-2406). The $50 deposit is due at the time of registration and the rest is due on the day of departure.
